A Few Moments in Reflection

Tonight I found myself in reflection on the decade that will soon come to a close on December 31, 2009.

The faces that were once everyday are now old friends. All of us have become these strange creatures, adults. Some are married. Some have children. Some of their names are hard to remember now.

I was going into my junior year of high school in 2000. Band practice. Tennis practice. Football game performances. Tennis matches. Skipping lunch to hang out in the band room. Sneaking almonds and other goodies from the teachers’ salad bar. Sleeping in class, consistently (much to my frequent embarrassment when I was awoken with a question I hadn’t a clue how to answer). Always cutting up. The end of high school.

Saying goodbye to Greene County and beginning what would become a long career at Georgia Tech. Meeting new people in a new place. Making new friends. Rediscovering my faith in Christ. Learning who I am. Graduating from Tech.

And now, now. Looking for a job to pay the bills. Writing. Reading books for pleasure rather than a professor. Tending to projects I’ve been waiting years to tackle.

God willing, it goes on.

Happy Holidays everybody, from Eric, your friend.
