Wander and Learn
Today’s link-flood is brought to you by Fresh Signals from Coudal Partners. I catch up on their feed about once a month (it’s extremely high volume since it’s a collective link blog), and this month was particularly rich in fascinating finds.
At this moment, I have 496 unread items in Google Reader. That’s typical. When I find or read something interesting, I give it time, I read the whole article, I research it, and then I read, listen, or watch what I find along the way. Tabbed browsing is a great innovation for insatiable informationists.
It’s rewarding to let yourself explore something new on the Internet, but only if you look into it. If you don’t actively tell yourself to learn from your wanderings, it becomes like a vapor, staying for a moment and then dissolving into the vaguer regions of your memory. Wander, yes; but learn along the way.
