"When I was first asked the question, what is your creative philosophy? I had no quick answer. Then it occurred to me that my unease with the question probably was the clue to the answer. For as long as I can remember I’ve worked as a designer. And through all the years, I’ve spelled designer with a lowercase d. I like doing design. I believe it is useful work. It can solve communication problems, it can enhance our environment, it can enliven our imagination. Sometimes it can even provide an insight into our lives. I guess what makes me somewhat uncomfortable is the word philosophy. For me design is a craft. And I try very hard to be a good craftsman. Come to think of it, maybe that’s my creative philosophy."
