Writing Right
As of today, I’m going to start using proper capitalization in my tweets and other Internet communications. Something occurred to me when I decided: The reason I associate lowercase with Web 2.0’s informal, conversational tone is because that’s how I wrote all my instant messaging. Instant messaging is so fast-paced you don’t really have time to throw your pinkie over on that shift key. It just adds delay and increases the chance of screwing up.
I don’t IM much at all anymore, but I feel like that’s at least one reason a lot of people gravitated toward lowercase for Web 2.0 brands.
