– TheMovieBoy Review: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) : I like this guy for telling it like it is. You just know it’s going to be bad. Not the good bad. The “putrid, offensive and life-sucking” bad. Ebert had similar remarks: “‘Transformers: Revenge of the...

Writing Right
As of today, I’m going to start using proper capitalization in my tweets and other Internet communications. Something occurred to me when I decided: The reason I associate lowercase with Web 2.0’s informal, conversational tone is because that’s how I wrote all my instant messaging. Instant messaging is so fast-paced you don’t really have time to throw your pinkie over on...

For the Horde
Note: This post is for WarCraft III-loving, Intel Mac-using friends. The problems here described are specific to our crowd. If you’re like me, you’ve tried installing your old copy of WarCraft III and/or The Frozen Throne from the CD a dozen times, and every time you attempt to patch it to the latest version, something fails or gets corrupted and it just won’t run. The patch...

Nintendo Narratives, Take 2
Yoshio Sakamoto, director of Metroid: Other M: What I hope to achieve with Other M is answer those questions — you know, who is Samus? What is her background? Who are the characters that made her what she is? All these questions and more will be answered. E3 2009: Metroid: Other M Heavy on Action and Story : IGN Wii Maybe the Nintendo Narratives I spoke about recently could be...

D-Day
Ten years ago, I was in Paris awaiting a flight back to the States. I had just finished a two-week trip to Italy with some members of my family, excited beyond words to have seen a sliver of the world beyond the USA and hungry to see more. It was one of those experiences that changes you, opens your eyes to new horizons and sets your heart on new ambitions. Travel the world. Learn another...

Bing logo looks toothless
I’ve been looking at the bing logo that some have criticized, and I have something to add: I think it’s the “g.” The g looks like it got punched in the mouth and lost a tooth. I’ve never thought of a “g” having a tooth before, but something about this one makes it look like it’s trying real hard to smile, but can’t quite do it. Your thoughts?

Microsoft Math
So, someone at Microsoft apparently had one of these moments and now I’m beginning to see those Zune Pass ads about it costing $30,000 to fill up your iPod everywhere. They have employed a very clever technique to persuade you that you’re wasting money on music when you could just pay $15 a month for music you will never own. It’s called math. But I have a problem. See,...
